VERBIO Speech Technologies
VERBIO was born in 1999 from the experience of more than 15 years of language and speech technology research carried out in the "Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya".
The voice recognition and the conversion of text into speech enable a more natural integration of telephony and computers (CTI). Some of the applications where VERBIO has already brought its technology to, are the following : verbal access through the telephonic net to traffic and meteorological databases, telephonic banking, e-mail checking, e-commerce or voice portals.
And also in many other environments such as: vehicles, industrial premises or at home. The universe of applications is unlimited.

Visiometrics
Visiometrics S.L. was founded in 2001 based on the results of a research made by the "Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya" in collaboration with the "Laboratorio de Óptica de la Universidad de Murcia". The research works, started in 1996, are focused in the development of a new technique to evaluate the optical quality of human vision
At the moment, VISIOMETRICS is marketing the OQAS (Optical Quality Analysis System) which enables the analysis of the optical quality of the images formed in the patients' retina. The measurements are made objectively, that is to say, without needing the patients answer. We find its main application in the refractive surgery field and in the elderly ocular illness diagnosis.
Among the currently developing projects that will soon be available on the market, we find a new sensor to measure eye aberrations and a very precise automatic binocular eye-tracker (or "pupilometer") based on the registration and treatment of pupil images. The new aberration sensor might be implemented in the OQAS system allowing the simultaneous measurement of the retina's image quality and the eye aberrations, becoming a worldwide instrumental innovation.

AIDA CENTRE RFID Solutions
AIDA Centre S.L., incorporated in June 2004, is dedicated to the design, commercialisation and implantation of solutions based in the radio frequency identification technology (RFIF), also known as "electronic labelling".
The technology of radio frequency auto-identification or, known also as "Radio Frequency Identification Devices" (RFID), is based on electronic labels or tags formed by a chip and a little antenna that perform a similar function to bar codes, but with important advantages. These labels can be attached to all products and make it possible to distantly identify and control them all along the distribution chain, from the manufacturer to the customer, and in addition, they enable to store multiple data concerning such products.

INFINITEC ACTIVOS S.L.
Infinitec Activos is a company incorporated in November 2004, devoted to the development, manufacturing and commercialisation of active principles and rheological modifiers for the cosmetic industry.
The product ranges are within the peptidic hybrids. This is a new concept from early 2001, where the cosmetic industry started to use peptides because of their high efficacy. The use of hybrids provides a great increment of efficacy when compared to their non-hybrid counterparts (the ones existing now in the market). The strategic markets in which we want to penetrate with the peptidic hybrids are the ones of Skin Care and Sun Care.

GENMEDICA THERAPEUTICS
Genmedica Therapeutics is a Barcelona-based biotechnology company currently in the process of being formed. The Company will focus on the discovery and development of innovative human therapeutics for diseases within the so-called metabolic syndrome, namely, diabetes, obesity and inflammatory and cardiovascular diseases.
In many Western nations, metabolic syndrome diseases currently affect about 20% of the population and are growing at epidemic rates. Recent epidemiological and biological data suggest that the etiologies of these diseases share unexpected and overlapping genetic and biochemical mechanisms, thus offering synergy in the discovery and development of therapeutics of otherwise unrelated diseases. This overlap in biology is the focus of Genmedica's drug discovery and development efforts.
Genmedica's lead drug candidates are oral therapies for diabetes type 1 and 2 that represent a new class of potential diabetes therapies, and a novel class of anti-inflammatory compounds. These drug candidates are currently in pre-clinical studies.
Genmedica Therapeutics is being run by CEO Alec Mian and strives to be capital efficient and quasi-virtual with minmal office and laboratory space in Barcelona, Spain.
